The top shoe styles trending for 2024 are Ballet Flats and Mary Jane Flats. I must confess, I initially had my reservations about these, especially since they are styles I thought we outgrew from childhood. However, as trends go, they have permeated every corner of the fashion scene. Slowly but surely, the plethora of style variations and exquisite color palettes have captivated my attention. These in particular have won my heart and I am sure will enchant you too.(*Links available for easy access)
Chanel Ballerinas
A classic is a classic. We all know about those rounded, capped toe flats with the signature CC logo and delicate bow. Coco Chanel's 1950s design continues to create a revolution in women's footwear with fresh iterations presented each season. Chanel Ballerinas are fashionistas' most desired comfy shoes; they are consistently raved about. This lambskin and gosgrain light blue and black version has created quite the buzz this season but the timeless black on black will always have my heart. They are worthwhile investments. However, here are more affordable options to these classic yet always trendy shoes.
Loeffler Randall Mary Janes
These checked print, almond toe Mary Janes are such a unique spin on a functional classic. Typically, anything outside of standard solid colors may be considered unfavorable for styling as they often clash with many outfits. However, this combination of colors in particular is distinctive but still versatile. They are “trendy but not basic”. The greatest selling point for me with these Mary Janes is the level of comfort. Unlike most flats that offer very little to no support, these Loeffler Randall Mary Janes have padded leather foot beds that cushion your feet with each stride. With such intentionality in design, it would be hard to not love and live in these shoes.
Chloe Marcie Net Ballet Flats
While I am still not sold on a lot of the mesh flats that are seemingly the leaders of this flat shoe revolution, I do find these to be appealing. Chloe has offered up a delicate and intricate version of ballet flats that will surely transcend this moment of trendiness. Sporting these shoes suggest you are a connoisseur of timeless elegance with a flair for the distinctive.
Madewell Mary Jane Flats

Mary Jane or Plain Jane? If you are going for overly simplistic, straightforward, no muss no fuss, Madewell is always the answer. These are touted as the most comfortable true to name Mary Jane Flats out there. They are made with buttery soft leather with a comfortable toe box making them easy to wear and easy to style. These are also very affordable. Maybe step out of your comfort zone and get a more eye catching color like this red version.
Stuart Weitzman Sleek Bow Flats
I see Stuart Weitzman as the marriage of effortlessly luxurious style with desirable price points. Their pieces help with evading the FOMO on designer items due to high price tags. These Sleek Bow Flats have a more sophisticated profile making them ideal for such places as business gatherings, work or even for an elevated casual experience.

Staud Alba Leather Ballet Flats
When I see these, I envision them being worn by that pristine, clean girl type who is always perfection from head to toe. This is her casual, "not even trying" yet still masterful take on a trendy style. This is outstanding simplicity that cannot be explained in words. Simple yet impeccable stitching, clean lines, soft leather with a comfortable fit. Find it here.
Bottega Veneta Stretch Ballerinas
If I did yield to the mesh flat style, I would go all in and get these Bottega Veneta mesh stretch ballerinas. They're not your average flats; they're a bold statement piece. With their square toe and chain embellishment, they redefine the notion of simplicity in fashion. Plus, the cushiony grips on the outersole add both comfort and edginess.
Sure, they come with a hefty price tag, but the ability to turn heads wherever you go? Priceless. While there are none quite like these Bottegas, here more budget-friendly options that capture the same level of daring sophistication but still remain fresh and trendy.
Will you hop on the Ballet/Mary Jane flat shoe trend this season or will you wait for the next shoe trend to emerge?
Stay fashionable well,
